Save links and notes by sending them to WhatsApp

A short guide. Last updated 5 October 2026.

The easiest place to keep something is the app you already have open. WhatsApp lets you message yourself, and that works well until the day you need to find something again.

Messaging yourself on WhatsApp

  1. Open WhatsApp and start a new chat.
  2. Your own name is at the top of the list, marked You. Tap it.
  3. Send yourself the link or the note. Pin that chat so it stays at the top.

Where that stops working

  • It is one long scroll. Links, shopping lists and half thoughts, all in the order you sent them.
  • Search only finds exact words. A link to a reel has none of the words you remember it by.
  • Nothing is grouped, and nothing reminds you.

Sending it to Nylo instead

Nylo is a small penguin who is a chat on WhatsApp too. You send him things the same way, and he does the sorting.

  1. Open Nylo, in the iPhone app or at app.heynylo.com, and sign in. It is free.
  2. Open You and press Join beside WhatsApp. Nylo shows a short code.
  3. Send that code to him on WhatsApp. That chat is now joined to your account.
  4. From then on, forward him a link, paste one, or just type a note. He puts a penguin on your message and tells you it is saved.

What he does with it:

  • He puts things about the same idea together, without you naming anything. He calls those buckets.
  • A message you type that is not a question is kept as a note.
  • With Nylo Pro you ask for it later in your own words, and he shows you which save the answer came from.

What to know before you start

  • Reels, links and notes are kept. A photo or a video you send is not stored, and he tells you so in the chat.
  • Your WhatsApp saves are scrambled before they are stored. The privacy page says exactly what can and cannot be seen.
  • Instagram can join the same account, so both chats share one list of saves.
  • Free is 100 saves a month. Asking him questions is part of Nylo Pro, which starts with 3 days free. The prices are on the pricing page.

Free to start, with 100 saves a month.
