How to save Instagram reels so you can find them again
A short guide. Last updated 5 October 2026.
Instagram's own Save button keeps a reel in a list. It does not let you search that list. If you want to find a reel again by what was in it, send it somewhere that can read it.
Saving inside Instagram
- Open the reel.
- Tap the three dots, then Save. On a post in your feed it is the bookmark under the picture.
- To see what you saved, open your profile, tap the three lines at the top right, then Saved.
You can also sort saved things into collections, which are folders you name yourself. Instagram moves these buttons from time to time, so yours may sit in a slightly different place.
Where that stops working
- There is no search. At the time of writing, Saved shows your reels newest first and nothing more. Finding one from three months ago means scrolling.
- Collections only help if you file every reel. Most people stop after a week.
- Nothing happens next. A saved workout does not become a workout, and nothing reminds you it is there.
- It can vanish. If the person who posted it deletes it, it leaves your Saved too.
The other way: send it to Nylo
Nylo is a small penguin who lives in your Instagram messages and on WhatsApp. You send him a reel the way you would send it to a friend, and he keeps it.
- Open the reel and tap the share arrow.
- Search for heynylo and send it to him, the same way you would send it to a friend.
- The first time, he asks you to tap I agree. After that he puts a heart on your message and tells you it is saved.
From then on:
- He puts things about the same idea together, without you naming anything. He calls those buckets.
- With Nylo Pro he watches the reel and reads the post, so he knows what is said and shown in it, not only the caption.
- You ask for it later the way you would ask a person, and he shows you which save the answer came from.
What to know before you start
- He only has what you send him. He cannot see what is already in your Instagram Saved folder.
- Without an account, a save is kept for seven days. A free account keeps it until you delete it.
- Free is 100 saves a month. Asking him questions is part of Nylo Pro, which starts with 3 days free. The prices are on the pricing page.
Free to start, with 100 saves a month.
