How to find a reel you saved on Instagram
A short guide. Last updated 5 October 2026.
Your saved reels are in your profile menu, under Saved. Instagram shows them newest first and, at the time of writing, gives you no search there. So finding an old one takes a little detective work.
Where Saved is
- Open your profile.
- Tap the three lines at the top right.
- Tap Saved. Everything is under All posts, and any collections you made sit beside it.
Four ways to track one down
- Remember who posted it. Open their profile and look through their reels. This is usually faster than scrolling your own Saved.
- Check what you liked. If you liked it too: your profile, the three lines, Your activity, then Likes. That list can be sorted by date and narrowed to one account.
- Check your messages. If you sent it to a friend, it is still in that chat.
- Search Instagram for the words you remember. A dish, a place, a song. That searches all of Instagram and not only your saves, but it sometimes lands on the same reel.
Why it is this hard
Saved is a list, and a list only helps while it is short. Instagram does not read what is inside a reel for you, and a caption like "wait for it" tells you nothing a month later.
Make the next one easy to find
Nylo is a small penguin who lives in your Instagram messages and on WhatsApp. Send him the reel when you save it, and later you ask for it in your own words.
- Open the reel and tap the share arrow.
- Search for heynylo and send it to him, the same way you would send it to a friend.
- The first time, he asks you to tap I agree. After that he puts a heart on your message and tells you it is saved.
With Nylo Pro he watches the reel and reads the post, so he knows what is said and shown in it. That is what lets you ask for "the one with the lemon pasta" and get it.
Two honest limits
- He cannot reach into your Instagram Saved folder. He only knows the reels you send him from now on.
- Saving is free, up to 100 a month. Asking him questions is part of Nylo Pro, which starts with 3 days free. The prices are on the pricing page.
Free to start, with 100 saves a month.
